HISTORY
To meet the needs of the
downtrodden, weaker and minority sections of the society an Eminent leader of
Delhi Janab Mir Mushtak
Ahmed took an initiative and The Janata
Co-operative Bank Ltd. was established on 12th June, 1956 under
the provisions of Bombay Co-operative Societies Act. 1925 as extended to the
State of Delhi (now deemed to be registered under Delhi State Co-operative
Societies Act 2003) by the Office of the Registrar Co-operative Societies,
Delhi vide Registration No.1485 dated 12.06.1956.
The Janata Cooperative Bank Ltd.
was granted license to carry on Banking Business by Reserve Bank of India, u/s
22(i) read with Section 56(o) of the Banking
Regulation Act 1949 vide License No.UBD.ND.845P dated 02.02.1987.
Maximum number of membership of
individuals are from different sections of the Society. The Bank is dedicated
to uplifting of economic, social and cultural status of its members in general
and of the economically weaker and minority section of the Society in
particular.
As on date the Bank has five
branches and one Extension Counter in addition to its Head Office/ Corporate
Office which are functioning from its owned premises 32, Netaji
Subhash Marg, Darya Ganj, New Delhi - 110002.
